£1m pa Dorset Road Safe staff includes £37k "Communications Manager!"
A
recent FOI request has revealed that the staffing costs of Dorset Road Safe
total £1m per year. The total cost of DRS (from "local transport funds") is
£2.5m pa. Other road policing costs total £5.1m. So DRS takes a sizable chunk of
the total spend on road safety in Dorset.
I’ve been trying to communicate with Dorset Road Safe for about 5 years, never
have I been made aware that there is a “Communications Manager” or received any
kind of meaningful or complete communications from anyone at “Dorset Road Safe”
or DSCP as it was before. Adrian Whiting has been an excellent communicator but
only speaking for the police involvement in DRS. The staff list and salary
scales are below.
Perhaps it is clearer to see now (with departments not wanting to be seen to be
loss making) why profits of £ millions, and therefore operations like greed on
green, are so important to Dorset Road Safe.
Given the obsolete, narrow minded approach of Dorset Road Safe, it’s cost, and
it’s obsession with ineffective speed cameras and operations that seem optimised
for raising cash rather than reducing costly (in financial and human terms)
accidents, it’s inability / disinterest to stand up for it’s own actions or to
move forward, this has to be the easiest £2.5 million per annum to save, or to
redirect into proper road policing.
